Mark's First Communion

How It Impacted Our Lives

How Religion affected Us

Everyone one of us is of Mexican descent, which means we were born into the catholic church. We were all baptized and have received the sacrament of the eucharist except for Jovanni and Andrew.V. Most have stopped at this sacrament but Jorge and Mark are going to church school to receive the sacrament of confirmation, sealing their faith to the catholic church. Even though we live through the teachings of catholicism for our whole lives, we are not very religious.

Mark and Jorge have strict religious parents. They celebrate every catholic holiday religiously, have taken some bible classes, and pray almost every night. Almost of their wall has a religious candle or a bible on their shelf. Their parents wanted their children to have a deep connection with catholicism because they were raised on this ideology during their whole lives. As you go deep into their family tree, you will see that each previous generation is more religious and socially conservative than the previous ones.

Both Andrews and Jovanni on the other hand, have religious parents but they are not strict. They go to church less frequently and only celebrate the most important catholic holidays such as Easter, Ash Wednesday and Christmas. They are able to get the holy eucharist but have not received any form of church school to get their sacrament of confirmation. Their reason why they do not go to church school is because their schedule can not handle another responsibility and that their parent gave them the choice to religious freedom, even though they prefer for them to be catholic. Their grandparents, however, is a  different story. All of their grandparents are deeply religious and practice the same prayers and events that most Catholics perform. In their family, their grandparents teach the catholic lifestyle and values.

That being said, All of the web designers practice their religion at a lower frequency than their families. If any of them had a choice, especially the ones with a very religious family, they would go to church once every two weeks or skip holiday sermon once in awhile. Many of the web designers have a more liberal perspective in society and does not use god’s teaching in most of their everyday life. Even though the younger generation would be considered agnostic in the eyes of their grandparents, their religion has impacted their personality. Every one of them questions themselves when they did questionable action. they repent at least twice a year and pray when there is a crisis in the family. As each generation passes by, the world will become more secular, however, all of their web designers to pass their religion to their future children.
